
Welshman Elfyn Evans has taken victory at the 2026 Rally Sweden his first victory since Kenya 2025. He took victory by 14.5s Over Japanese Teammate Takamoto Katsuta. The Toyota teammates concluded a weekend long brawl on the Umeå special stage where Evans took the rally win and additional Super Sunday points.
It was another great result for Toyota Gazoo Racing as they took a 1-2-3-4 with Takamoto Katsuta taking an 8th career podium and 21 year old Sami Pajari taking a second career podium. Swedish sensation and championship leader Oliver Solberg took 4th position, a respectable result after an off-road excursion on Friday morning.
Hyundai walk away from this weekend left disappointed after setting their expectations too high with only 1 driver in the top 5 and constant setup issues all weekend long for their cars. However Hyundai showed positive signs on Saturday with 2 stage wins and Lappi in a top 4 position on Friday and early Saturday.
Ford had another disappointing weekend all round with their cars suffering punctures after a tyre pressure issue on Friday which caused Sesks to miss the afternoon loop of stages and left McErlean and Jon Armstrong down on time to the rest of the competition. However on Saturday Sesks did get a stage win to his name and a first for Ford In the 2026 season with Armstrong showing signs of pace and only finishing 19.6 off Neuville in 7th.
In super sunday standings Evans took the win and claimed all additional points at stake holding off Takamoto Katsuta by 1.1s with Oliver Solberg, Sami Pajari and Fourmaux rounding out the Super Sunday standings.
