Today 54 year old Qatari driver Nasser Al Attiyah announced that he will be making a return to the Wrc after more than 10 years away from the sports premier competition.
Al Attiyah has competed in the Wrc before with a short 2 year stint in which he managed a career best 4th place finish at Rally De Portugal 2012. Al Attiyah’s recent success has come in the form of the Dakar Rally where has won 5 times. This year he piloted a Dacia Sandrider to 4th place in the world rally-raid championship.
Al Attiyah will drive an M-Sport ford Rally1 car alongside Regular M-Sport drivers Josh McErlean And Grégoire Munster. The Qatari driver chose this round because it is the surface he is most suited to and because he believes that he has the upper hand compared to the championships regulars.
