Day 2 at the Acropolis rally Greece got underway with the first of two runs through the 26.76km mammoth of a stage, Aghii Theodori. Within minutes the rally had claimed its first victim, Taka Katsuta stopping just 4 kilometers in and dropping over 2 minutes. First on the road was championship leader Elfyn Evans who had a clean but slow start to the day with the welshman already discussing wear to the soft compound tire on the front left of his Toyota GR Yaris. Behind a recovering Katsuta Rovenpera complained about lingering dust. Another to fall victim to the first kilometers of this rally was Josh McErlean who punctured a tire at the same place as Katsuta. Finally, Sesks was the last of the drivers in rally1 to hit trouble in this stage with him puncturing and losing the entire carcass of the tire towards the end of the first test. Sami Pajari was the suprise of the morning with the flying-finn 2nd fastest just 0.8 off his maestro teammate Sebastian Ogier. The Hyundai’ seemed to be closely matched on pace with the Toyota’s with the only setback being the tire choice by Ott Tanak with him heavily criticising his own decision to put hards at the front of his Hyundai rally1 machine. Neuville with a trouble free stage was 3rd and slipped into p2. The next stage was Loutraki a stage renowned for breaking cars however this time it was different. Fourmaux was fastest through spear-heading a Hyundai charge to the lead. Neuville now leads by 4.2 over Fourmaux and he is ahead of Ogier who is 0.8 back with a fast starting Pajari maintaining position in 4th level with Tanak 6.6 seconds off the rally lead. Championship leader Elfyn Evans is already 30.2 seconds off the lead due to road cleaning duties.
